On March 21, 2022, the first World Sustainable Procurement Day took place, covering the full range of important and current sustainable procurement challenges, ranging from Child Labor & Forced Labor, to Supplier Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Living Wages, Human Rights, Conflict Minerals & Mining, Human Trafficking, Scope 3 GHG Emissions, SME suppliers, Supply Chain Transparency & Traceability, Social Procurement, and many, many more.

From CPOs to students, from Academia to Procurement Practitioners and experts, from Asia to the Americas; the spectrum of speakers and presenters were as wide as the range of formats. More than 6000 individuals registered for the WSPD to meet and exchange with their peers in panel discussions, best practice and breakout sessions and exchanged on challenges and solutions. This event was organized FOR Procurement Professionals BY Procurement Professionals!

The World Sustainable Procurement Day took place during the 24 hours of the spring equinox on March 21, 2022. and provided a multitude of different online sessions, presented by the Sustainable Procurement Pledge (SPP) Team, SPP Chapters & Champions, partners, and friends with only one goal – to empower and equip Procurement Practitioners with knowledge, best practice approaches, and practical solutions to sustainability challenges
that our Profession needs to tackle NOW.

The Sustainable Procurement Pledge (SPP) is an international grassroots and non-profit organization for procurement professionals, academics, and practitioners, driving awareness and knowledge on responsible sourcing practices and empowering people in procurement. With more than 6,800 committed ambassadors, SPP fosters the positive impact of procurement. The pledge is based on the United Nations Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Goals and centers around five key principles of which the pledge comprises. These SPP principles set the frame and the tone for our way of collaboration and how we collectively drive and thrive towards our vision that all individuals acting within global supply chains across the world will apply Sustainable Procurement practices by 2030.
